Membership 
The Alberta Rockies Gay Rodeo Association has always wanted to ensure that our members get the best bang for their buck. When you look at the discounts all ARGRA members receive just through ARGRA events such as your rodeo package discount, dance discount and retail discounts your membership easily pays for itself MANY times over...but you know ARGRA...we always go one step beyond! ARGRA is now a member of the Social Club Discount Listing so that not only do you receive discounts with our sponsors you will now receive discounts at restaurants, hotels, ski hills, and businesses all over Alberta! With over 178 businesses offering you discounts we take our membership to a new level! Once you have your new ARGRA membership card all you have to do is show your card at all participating businesses and make your membership work for you!
With the new discount program our memberships will now run from Jan 1st to December 31st of each year but because we are rolling out this program now we will be extending the 2012 membership till March 31, 2013!
ARGRA is an association based on volunteers, and these volunteers work tirelessly to make this one of the most successful gay associations in the world; the only person that is missing is YOU! No matter what your area of expertise we have an area that you can help with. Our amazing army of volunteers bring such an array of talent which makes our dances, our social events and the jewel in the ARGRA crown; the Canadian Rockies International Rodeo and Music Festival successes that few other gay rodeo associations can match! ARGRA is a Calgary based not-for-profit society that is 100% volunteer driven. ARGRA was founded in 1991 and the first sanctioned- Canadian Rockies International Rodeo was held in 1994. After years of consistent growth we now have a membership base of over 400. This makes us the largest gay rodeo association in the world!
The Big Rock Canadian Rockies International Rodeo is an International Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA) sanctioned event encompassing 28 associations with close to 4000 members worldwide.
Canadian Rockies International Rodeo
We proudly boast the most unique rodeo on the IGRA circuit. We are able to offer all our events at one location, no other gay rodeo does this. This makes our event a favourite destination for many of the GLBT rodeo contestants and spectators. It is truly an international event with people coming from all corners of the globe to attend. We expect more than 4000 attendees to come to our events this year.
It all gets underway with Thursday night entertainment. This year we have 4 full nights of entertainment and dances as well as the Show Boat Stage performances. We consistently have the hottest country entertainment, each year upping the ante. Headliner's in recent years include; Emerson Drive, Aaron Pritchett, Farmer's Daughters, Gil Grand, Doc Walker, Lace, Chris Cummings and Julian Austin. The weekend continues with pancake breakfasts, great rodeo events, rodeo entertainment, retail tent, silent auction, dances, and awards partnered with our special brand of western hospitality and great food!
The rodeo has both traditional rodeo events like bull riding, team roping, and barrel racing as well as the popular camp events like goat dressing and wild drag. Getting those undies on a goat is not as easy as you’d think! Our 'Saturday Dance' is always a huge success boasting the largest GLBT event in Alberta!
